Sure does. I got plenty of tools. My wife helps pick some of them out. She said this is a good one for me. :)

Speaking of the set trigger on the OM. I do see the occasional one for sale where the set trigger mechanism does not work. Anybody tinker with them? Is there a common fix to get them to work?

Re: Composite Officers Model?

This one just sold at RIA a few days ago. Had some issues but still well below the estimate of $9,500 to $16,000. Hammer plus buyer's premium was $8,813.

Dick Hosmer wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 3:05 am John, have you seen that piece before?

Yes, I saw it on their web site a few weeks ago. If it could be bought in the estimated price range it would certainly look nice hanging on someone's wall. Just not my wall. I'll wait, save my money, and find one that is correct. :)

Re: Issue, Refurbishment, and Reissue of Trapdoors to the frontier military

Here's an added tidbit from FIREARMS OF THE AMERICAN WEST, by Garavaglia and Worman (Volume II, page 41). "Instead of shipping entirely new guns to frontier units, the Ordnance Department sometimes sent out new components, which the company armorer installed on existing arms. In mid-1878, for e...

Re: Issue, Refurbishment, and Reissue of Trapdoors to the frontier military

Does anybody have any reference citings regarding the system and ordnance policies involving the turning in of well used small arms during the 1870's through the 1890's? On page 203 of BOOK II Al writes the following. "As a general rule, post repairs were made by substitution of serviceable fo...

There may be info in Claude Fuller's The Breech-Loader in the Service. I might be able to check later unless someone beats me to it.

Re: My five U.S. Model 1868’s coming up for sale soon

Gunbroker apologized and said that before I can sell, they now require additional verification of who I am by supplying my birth date. However after giving it, I’m told that I still need to put in a Month of my birth. This is after I’ve put it in over and over. I think that I’ll pound the muzzles i...

This is from several years ago concerning New Jersey firearm laws. It doesn't look like things have improved. "Retired teacher facing 10 years in prison for possession of a 1700s flintlock pistol that may not have been fired since George Washington was alive." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/n...

OMs keep falling into my lap

It's going to be difficult to decide which one to buy. Lots to choose from! This one has the rare electric pencil engraving. Great pictures too! (P.S.: Sorry for the flippant posts of late, but it's slow here and I'm trying to stay amused. :P). https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/...
