A friend of mine has a U.S. marked Springfield trap door, 1873, S/N 149200.
How can we determine if this was issued to the 7th Cavalry? Or which unit it may have been issued to?

I'm trying to help out the LGS guy, as he doesn't do the internet thing.
It's a really clean rifle, I'll take pictures Monday, but don't think I can post them.
