If you have back issues of the Trapdoor news letters out out by Al Frasca there is quite a bit on The Penn. state police trapdoors. A friend of mine bought one nor knowing its history and we found it was shown in the newsletters.

Kenneth, Yes it part it still exists. For many years the winner took it home for a year and returned it for the following years matches. From time to time it suffered damage and Tiffany and company would repair it and bill the NRA. It was damaged and parts lost so it was assembled on a large board 4...

If the carbine does NOT have star after the serial number it has problems.

This post has served its purpose. If you are a serious buyer for this carbine all you have to do is Google search" carbine 12221" and this is the first stop. Now they can decide for themselves how much to spend if anything.

Dr. Vance Haynes noted that General Custers 1866 sporting rifle is marked Co H 3d infty. page 35 "General Custer and his sporting rifles C. Vance Haynes Jr. Westernlore press Tuscon 1995" One would think that many more exist out there.

Carlsr, Weight to volume in black powder is never the same from lot to lot since I started buying it 50 years ago. Today GOEX volume measure 60 will in 2FG weighs 53 grains. The German schuetzen [wano] in Germany 60 bulk will weigh 60 on the scale but has much less power than the GOEX. No GOEX again...
