Oh I didn’t make him an offer. He and his wife wanted $1,500.00 for it and I didn’t try to haggle it down. I gave him what they asked. It wasn’t like there were others on the market that were less expensive. I had the money. I knew that 1868/1868’s were unobtainable. I wanted it and so bought it.

The person knew what it was and was told that it was a scarce rifle not many made with the 1868 block, he was given info on what the more common ones go for, He decided the price at the time, knowing the more common ones can go between $600-2000. I think if he just through this on Gunbroker he would of got less than 1,500. These rifles need to be put in front of the right audience to get the numbers that this was sold for. It takes some time and work to do so.

Gun broker can be a funny place! I have seen common TD’s go for triple than show prices.
All you need are 2 bidders that just have to have it. To avoid getting less than what you want on an auction there is a reserve price you can set. Penny auctions seem to get a higher attraction and higher sold price for some reason.

I am getting close to selling off a bunch of stuff and am NOT looking forward to the process at all. Rather than using Gunbroker my present plan is to sell them through John's site: www.oldguns.net.
