I'm at the same point, Dick. I have not disposed of anything even though I should be in a liquidating mode. I think there might be some family interest in keeping the collection, however. Time will tell.....

Had a thought this morning, which seems palatable: When I sell, the amount I paid goes back into savings, all profit goes to expenses/bills until they are retired.

Fred, you should put those rifles in the highlighted section which would give them more action.
When I go to GI I click on the trapdoor section rather than searching a specific model. The highlighted section always shows first followed by most recent. When highlighted buyers will always see those rifles first, just a suggestion.

I’ll do that ASAP.
There’s something else really neat I want to buy and so I figured I’d drop the price to get the money for that real quick while making a smidgeon over $150.00 as profit.
This is just a fun hobby for me and the finding of each of my five rifles was the really fun part.
That’s kinda like finding Five Colt Walkers.
There are only 24 known 1868/1868’s in private and public collections and somewhere around 90 something known and validated original Colt Walkers.

As you know, I was shown #86, by the then owner, noted firearms writer Graham Burnside, in 1992. He also had another one at the time, which he offered to me for $1,000.

But, #86, being a nicer specimen, was his keeper. You might want to note that provenance in your sales pitch.

I remember the 7 original Confederate Lematte pistols that Turner Kirkland of Dixie Gun Works had for sale in 1979 for a long time.
They were priced from $700.00 range to $1700.00.
I think somebody must’ve finally bought them all. One of the Lemattes was a “Babby lematte” that would be worth several Ten’s of thousands today.
You can’t touch a Lematte in just fair condition for less than 30 Grand today.
