Happy Birthday to us!
Happy Birthday to us!
Happy Birthday dear Trapdoor Collectors!
Happy Birthday to us!
[Commence the 21 gun salute, fired from trapdoors, of course.}
One year ago we opened this site, with Al Frasca's blessing and encouragement, and we have successfully carried on his outstanding legacy of sharing information and enthusiasm for trapdoor Springfield arms and related historical artifacts, events and documentation.
While most of the activity is here on the forum, nearly all the content's of Al's original site is here at the main page, https://www.armscollectors.com/trapdoor/ and you really should bookmark that to remind yourself of what is available there, and a single click will bring you to the forum.
I am grossly delinquent getting Al's wonderful Trapdoor Newsletters" posted on the main site, along with some sort of "Trapdoor of the month/trapdoor of note" to show some interesting gun. But, this is just one of many unpaid gigs I have, and time is limited.
Anyway, to the 144 current members of the site, WELCOME, and THANK YOU. Hope you are having fun, and learning.
In the past year, we have had 1,437 posts on 149 topics, an average of 3.94 posts a day. 525 attachments (almost all .jpg images) have been posted.
Dick Hosmer was the first user to sign up, and has made 365 posts. About half the users have actually posted, and many of those were one time posters. But all are welcome. A few dozen spambots or hackers have signed up and some of those have tried to post, but the forum software is pretty good at helping to identify and remove them.
And to Al Frasca- THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNSURPASSED SCHOLARSHIP AND SHARING OF ALL THINGS TRAPDOOR!
John S.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!
Hard to believe it's been a year . . .
We ALL need to thank John for stepping into the breech and preventing Al's fine work from just fading away. The new site seems to be working quite well. It is such a pleasure to be able to use the full keyboard, and most of all to be able to post pictures (1P=1000W, etc.). More particpation would be nice and I'm sure that will come as we continue to grow.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!
I certainly concur with everything that Dick has said.
Thanks, John, for picking up the torch.
There have been some great discussions so far, as well as some really interesting posts such as the marksmanship article today.
I'm sure things will pick up over time as people find their way here.
