Anyone try the Lyman 330 gr. Gould HP bullet mould?

They are brass, mp-molds makes them in Slovenia. It took 4 days for them to arrive, where as any order I make from NY takes over a week. How does that work, lol. If you get 20 or so guys together to buy moulds he will make just about anything from what I understand. I think a run of hollow based .515-.520 450gr govt bullets would be cool. I think a govt bullet’s driving bands are seated all the way in the case generally, I’m loading these with the first driving band partially out of the case which puts in contact with the crimp. It could also be differences in die manufacture, what brand dies are you using? I’m using lee.

I have a “smattering” of almost all the popular molds (Lyman (mostly), RCBS, and Lee.)
I don’t care for the Lee 45-70 mold ‘cause the grease grooves are far too shallow.

I tested these bullets today, they outperform the lee 405 grain hollow base bullet by a large margin. I’m going to have to test them in my carbine and see how they do.

Does the mold you purchased have an item number?
I can't find it on their web site.

I chose 460 diameter as all my dies and sizers are for 459.
Molds for this diameter are currently out of stock so I signed up to be notified when back in stock.

I recently bought lee’s new bullet sizer system. It has replaceable sizing dies and push rod that are usually $10-13 a set, they have a great variety of bullet diameters too, many would be considered odd ball diameter. So far .461 seems to show the best accuracy with my rifles, With .459 being the bare minimum diameter for reasonable accuracy. I have som old Lyman 405 gr molds that throw .457 bullets and they are totally unacceptable. I size them down to .452 and run them out of my original Remington rolling block sporting rifle in .44/77. If you pan lube then size your bullets nose first you can size a bullet much more without distortion vs the old style base first lubrisizer but it’s an extra step and you’d have to get the lee sizers.

That would be the Lee breech lock system correct?
You either need to purchase a press with the breech lock or purchase adapters to fit a standard press I believe. I was recently looking at those as I need a .321 bullet sizing die for a Gew 88/05 that belonged to my Dad. All kinds of contradicting information out there on shooting and reloading for those rifles!! I ended up purchasing a special order sizing die from Lee along with a special order easy expander for full length case sizer die to match the bullet diameter.
I’d rather stay with the 459 diameter rather than purchase what I would need for the 462 mold.
I get decent accuracy with the 459 on the rifles I shoot and my range only shoots out 200 yards so no need to change up at this time.

Gotcha, and yes it requires the lee quick lock style press. I made some bullets with the big hollow point plug today, they look pretty impressive, I think they’d be good inside 200 yards but beyond that I’m afraid that giant hollow point might cause some ballistic issues but maybe I’m overthinking it….

Here’s an expanded bullet with the big hollow point, it was shot into moist sand. 147 grain 9mm bullet for reference.
