Also need some other bits. Barrel bands, buttplate, ramrod.

Shoot, just use the barrel bands you have. They’re correct for the stock.
Does the stock have a place for a rod retaining spoon and it’s retaining pin?
If so, that will hold your 1866 (it’d be the best for that stock) rod in place.

Fred Gaarde my apologies if my post was confusing. I have a Model 1870 project and I don't have any barrel bands at all. I need a LOT of parts and I realize I'm going about this the hard way but it's the only way I can own these things on my limited budget.

Along with S&S you can find most parts on eBay.
If you're anywhere near Allentown PA. There is the Forks on the Delaware gun show this weekend. There are usually a couple vendors there who sell parts for antique firearms.
