Merry Christmas to all!

I was a VERY good little boy last year and Santa finally brought me an Officers Model,
after being told that I wanted one every Christmas since first seeing one as a teenager!

Sometimes it is just a matter of being willing and able to pay the price.

I'm very happy for you of course, but also a bit surprised that one hadn't come up sooner, given your business connections and exposure to the market. Took me a long time, too, but had to part with a lot of stuff (I've NEVER had a lot of money) to make the deal happen, and at that it's a pretty heavily-worn specimen.

Can we see some pictures?

Even a well-worn specimen would be a welcome sight to these old eyes!

Congrats John S
For me to get an Officers model it would need to come from Santa😂😂😂😂
Enjoy and it would be great to see some pictures.

OK, here you go. This is an early, high-arch block, gun, fitted with the "Type 2" tang sight, designed by SA, which was an abject failure due to the single screw working loose. It occurs on only a few rifles made right after those 50 using the Sharps sight and before the final type 3 - very much like the H&R version we see today - was adopted. The 1873 barrel sight with an added "50" has the graduations on the LEFT side, AFAIK unique to the OM.
