How many times have you asked that!!??
So I took the butt plate off my 1884 carbine, made in 1886 and found this. I was trying to post pictures but with no luck, so here's a link to another forum I posted this on.

I'm curious about the guys name and Penn Camp! Any info will help!

Shouldn’t there be an inletted area under the butt plate for tools and cleaning rod?

Yup! There should definitely be a butt trap in that carbine. Still interesting to find a message from the though.

Yup! The barreled action is carbine but I think it's been replaced with a cut down rifle stock!!

Definitely cool - but - under the heading of "different strokes for different folks" - I'd be more interested in the stock itself. Clearly it had a plain butt-plate, so it must be an altered rifle stock. Is there a filler at the tip? Does it have the sling bar? Is it a gun you've had for a long time, or just acquired?
To post pictures here the file needs to be under 256k, this can take a little juggling until you get it just under - sometimes going to a lower resolution is all it takes. Use "Preview" on a Mac (Windoze I don't know, but it's there.)

Yes there is a filler where the cleaning rod would go!! I bought it about ten years ago at a Cabelas in Wisconsin. It was $500, so wrong stock or not, a bargain!! I also have an 1884 rifle, both are great shooters and range favorites!!
