Trapdoor Rifles

I’ve dropped the price for my beautiful early 1868 Springfield Number 86 down to $4,300.00.
There’s something I want to buy and that’s what it will cost me including the shipping.
Serial number 86 is in incredible condition. Blemish free metal which is smooth and bright without any pitting.
A Mint bore
It has the early rear sight too.
1868 dated breech block.
This rifle came out of the Burnside Collection. Dick Hosmer can tell you about him and the rifle.
I’ll be taking the rifle with me to a big antique gun show on the 27th and it most probably will not be coming back home with me.
Only the rifle is up for sale.

Graham Burnside was a WW2 vet, and VERY prolific and well-known firearms author of the 1940s-1980s. He passed around 1995. I visited him at his home outside of Chicago while on a business trip to Underwriters Labs, many years ago, and handled that very rifle, which was one of his special treasures.
