Pennsylvania State Police Trapdoor

Here I have one of 440 Carbines that the state police ordered. First order was 220 Carbines in 1906 and the other 220 in 1909. My Carbine came in the second batch. Back when I first purchased this, I called the Pa.State Police Museum. The Curator didn’t have any more info than I had (2007 Issue of Man At Arms). I would love to find the name of the Officer this was first issued to. Pictures were too large to add straight to post.

Based on your serial number it was made in 1875. Is there any visual cartouche on the stock before the saddle rings? Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, just now getting back. Nope no Cartouche. So I am assuming it must have been NOS before sending it to Pa.

If you have back issues of the Trapdoor news letters out out by Al Frasca there is quite a bit on The Penn. state police trapdoors. A friend of mine bought one nor knowing its history and we found it was shown in the newsletters.

Thanks, yea I actually have his info plus a bit more.i have the magazine Man At Arms 2007 Edition and Al helped some with the article. But your friend should check eBay for a copy. It’s informative but it just made me want to find out who mine was issued to at the beginning. Hopefully someone where in PA that information has been kept. Just have to find it.
