All, a document from the NRA on how to clean/preserve antique guns and the products they use to conserve antique firearms. I have used the products and work very well:
https://www.nramuseum.org/media/1007361 ... cklund.pdf

Also do not forget all information about restoring and disassembling your trapdoors:
Guidelines for Disassembling a Trapdoor: https://www.armscollectors.com/trapdoor ... embly.html
Restoration and Preservation: also contains a summary of the NRA antique preservation: https://www.armscollectors.com/trapdoor ... ation.html

It is a rewarding feeling when cleaning and maintaining these unique firearms. I appreciate all the knowledge that I have acquired from this forum!

Friends through Trapdoors,

Frank- I edited your first link to take it to the NRA document dealing with conservation, instead of the Centurion link you used which was for a Centurion listing of trapdoors in an auction.

Doug Wicklund's article was written about 20 years ago, but is still valid and valuable.

Doug was one of the many NRA employees laid off a few years ago when crooked Wayne LaPierre quietly fired most of the staff, and ceased most of NRA's traditional functions in order to pay the Brewer law firm millions of dollars to keep LaPierre out of jail.

John thank for the correction. That auction house is located in my city. Thank you for all that you do!

Centurion Auction runs a good operation. I have gotten a number of things from them, always accurately described, and their shipments are well packed and shipping is reasonably priced (unlike some other auction places).
