Trapdoor Carbine 140775

Post by sigp220.45 »

Hello -

I recently purchased what I believe is a legit Trapdoor carbine serial 140775. I probably overpaid, but I don’t really care. I’ve wanted one forever, and now I have it.

It has the C on the rear sight, the right diameter barrel at the muzzle, and no plugged cleaning rod hole in the stock. It has the sliding door in the buttplate. There was a broken case extractor in the recess, but nothing else.

I subscribed to SRS, but it appears they are inactive now. Would anyone here be able to check your sources to see if there is a record of issue for this carbine?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome!
140775 is not listed, but it is in a long series of carbines, so there is little doubt about it being a carbine.
Nearby numbers which are listed are mostly noted with connections to various cavalry regiments in 1888.
Hope that helps.
