M70 Rifle, Type II
M70 Rifle, Type II
This M70 Rifle was one of the first Type II rifles produced since the M68 rod and rod lock were still in use.
The change to the M70 rod and rod lock came soon after Type II production began. Because of service use,
It is very difficult to see the forward ESA
cartouche and the boxed L firing proof. The two musket cartouched are visible, but hard to see. The rifle
has the M70 type II barreled action and the M70 stock with the ski slope alteration. The bands are correct.
The rifle has the M70 sight and M70 thumb piece along with the M70
breech block. The bore is shootable, but not as clean as I would like. There are very fine specks
along the bore. The rifling is strong.
The stock has some service dings, but it has not been sanded.
(The "18" on the barrel is an inventory number applied by a former owner)
