M77 Starred Carbine, SN187221*
M77 Starred Carbine, SN187221*
This Starred Carbine was produced at Springfield in 1882. The cartouche has been damaged in service, but still partially visible. The firing prof is quite clear.
Being a starred carbine it has the early dated lock plate. When refurbished for the Sp-Am War, the Buffington front and rear sights, rear sight
protector and front sight cover were added. The carbine has seen very little service since the hammer face is like new, the stock recess for the latch is like new
and the rifling and bore are excellent to mint with deep rifling. The metal blue is excellent and the stock is in very nice condition. However, there is a crack
in the forend of the stock.
The color case is visibleon the block and tang. The bluing is strong on all the metal parts.
The stock has not been sanded and
all the metal parts are recessed in the stock.
An excellent collectible!!!!
