M81 Forager, SN421
M81 Forager, SN421
This 20 gauge forager was produced in 1882 using a musket stock and barrel. It is in very good shage, for a forager.
They were heavily used by scouts and hunters foraging for small game to feed the troops.
It is complete and ready for service. There is some roughness in the bore that was
from the reaming the musket barrel to 20 gauge. The stock is very good with a clear
cartouche and firing proof. These guns arw hard to fine. Springfield made about
1200 of them between 1881 and 1885. One September 1883 Frankford Arsenal brass shell goes with the Forager.
