Re: .58 charge tubes as .58 rim fire.
I had custom molds made Dick, 590 diameter as the original bullet. I talked to a company in Texas before covid about making rim fire cases for 58 caliber, sent him a round along with original dimensions. This was a company that made special cases for rim fire that took a 22 blank. Luckily I had not ...

Re: .58 charge tubes as .58 rim fire.
Since you seem to like shooting your 1st Allin more than occasionally, have you ever considered having someone turn proper cases for you? You could still drill and counterbore for the blank, to save some money, but everything else would be perfect... Yes I have Dick but as of yet I've not found any...

.58 charge tubes as .58 rim fire.
I recently acquired some 58 caliber charge tubes, most likely the same blue tubes sold on S&S. I found that they are much closer in rim size than 28 gauge brass shot shells. I cut one down to 1.70 as is the case length for .58 rimfire then chambered it in my 1st Allin conversion. It seemed to ch...

Re: 1868/70 question
Okay, we have a suggested method to remove the crud from the metal, but what about getting it off the wood? I would never use any "cleaner" on old original finish. I take vaseline and let it render in a high heat environment to get out most of the liquid 'oil" in it. You then have a ...

Re: Forager load data
several in our club shoot black powder shotgun both muzzle loading and breech loaders. So I asked one about a load for you and got this 80 grains 1FG or 70 grains 2FG 1.5 ounces of number 7 shot. After you put the top wad in run a light bead of white glue around the edge of wad to retain it This is...

Re: 1868/70 question
I purchased an M68/70 last year in Baltimore with the exact color patina. I chose to clean it as there was some sort of residue around the front sight that prevented the bayonet from locking on to the sight. This is how I clean my rusty, dirty, grimy rifles. I use Kroil as a rust remover along with ...

Re: Baltimore 2025 highlights
Well once again that elusive M70 type I was not present 😩 I seen the 84 experimental rod bayonet but I've seen it many times at the Baltimore show. I did see a first Allin short rifle??? The bore was excellent along with the stock. It did however have an A carved in the left flat. Seemed to be a leg...
