Relatively early 1868 with an ouchie

Post by Lead Snowstorm »

According to the listing, "this trapdoor is the perfect rifle to take a walk in the woods or just to show off at the range sporting some natural patina showing her age this rifle is perfect for any collectors arsenal. [...] Action: Functions as designed."

I guess *technically* they never quite suggested you try to shoot it, just walk it through the woods and show it off at the range.

*Technically*

I suppose that crack in the receiver would not bother them. Must have been quite a load to swell the barrel and put that split in the receiver. At least it has defined rifling? What light shines thru the hole?

To save the trouble of going to the GB listing- here is a photo from the description. If you look closely, it looks like there is a vertical crack going down behind the hinge pin on this (left) side, and a photo of the right side sure looks like there is a vertical crack extending down below the hinge area there too.

It's what appears to be a massive horizontal rupture that bothers me - even made the numbers jump out of line!
