For all you others who are having difficulties here is a simple solution

Set the "Avatar size to 90 and hit "resize" and then Download, it may clip the avatar a bit.

On the left side of page it also has a "resize" link for posting pictures, you can play around with it, I loaded a 2.08MB photo used the "600 pixels" button and it resized it to 46kb.
