The bayonet pictured below doesn't fit my 1873 Trapdoor (1884). It appears to match all the descriptors except the blade end ID.
I'm new to the forum. I'm sort of a collector, working my way back from modern. This is my first and probably only Trapdoor. I try to get a bayonet to fit each of the rifles for historical display purposes. So, I don't know a lot about these.
Any insight anyone can give will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jess

Images are now gone. Now he removed the entire post , he may have found what he had? I did see them this morning and you show one U S marked bayonet and the other which is at an angle that does not show any markings. I checked several of my bayonets and the internal diameter is around .760. I believe your other one was .711. Is the bayonet you bough marked U S ? Remember there are many U S plus foreign arms that use this style of bayonet and you may well have one of those.

Trying to make the images work.
It is marked US
The blade end of the socket is .711. The muzzle end of the socket is .735. All the other measurements match what I've seen on the web such as Arms2Armor.
That is why the post was gone for a while. As you know the trapdoor rifle muzzle is .735. Have you looked at the site www.worldbayonets.com They have most US bayonets listed there with dimensions. None seen to be what you have although the Connecticut military Peabody seems close.
