A few single rounds I've picked up a long with some ammo boxes. The one on the fare left is a cadet box which is in excellent condition. Would be nice to have the shoulder straps to go with it.

It's nice to have the manuals to go with collector arms. The "Description and Rules for the Management of the Springfield Rifle, Carbine and Army Revolvers, Caliber .45" is hard to find in the first (1874) edition.

Some guy wrote his name across the cover of this one with a Nov 1876 date (a few months after the Custer debacle). Compare that 1876 signature with one from a February 26, 1884 report, after he became Master Armorer.

"Some guy" huh? Probably quintuples the value of the manual!

Very Nice Carl

Thanks John
Always good to have provenance with an item

Here is one that is inscribed to John Pitman author of the Pitman Notes by T. T. S. Laidley in his version of Rifle Firing

Great photo.Any idea of the location? The arid nature and buttes in the background suggest western post, possibly Wyoming, Colorado or New Mexico, or maybe Texas or Montana?
I tried a Google image search to find similar with nothing matching. There are probably a number of photos taken at this time, not just a single one.

Use of the goofy prone position suggests post 1874 "Creedmore Match" time frame, and uniforms look more circa 1890 [general impression, nothing specific to justify that opinion].

That picture looks familiar - it's in one of the TD books, right?

Another Trapdoor Spoon. This one is engraved in the bowl of the spoon, "FT. SILL". I've never seen another engraved to another military post. In fact, I wasn't aware of them at all until I saw the spoon illustrated in Al's first trapdoor book. I just happened upon this one at an antique store years ago. Had to have it, and it was cheap!
