Anyhow it's in 43 spanish with a near perfect bore form pics supplied. I have been given contact info for a fellow named Hoyt whom relines trapdoors etc. Iv'e seen his work on a well worn 73 carbine he relined - you would be hard pressed to tell other than a minty bore in a rather worn carbine. I intend to have this relined to 45/70 just to shoot. I have a 43 egyptian barrel for a rolling block laying around . Was thinking of having this one relined and donating the 43 spanish barrel to a 43 spanish shooter. Cost is about $250 and up to 6 months turn around time. Does anyone new make replacement 45/70 barrels for rolling blocks ?.
USPS finally delivered it two weeks late ( way to go post office). It's been reblued as I was told , wood overcleaned - as I was told. Bore is beautiful but 43 spanish is not my thing. I do have a 43 spanish bullet mold I have used for reloading 11mm Werndl for a buddy's austrian rifles...and they are fun to shoot too with their unique action. Still have not got the 43 egyptian barrel from a buddy yet - post office is really in fail mode anymore.

I Hand load for my Rolling Block .58 Center Fire that was converted from a Type 1 Springfield 1863 rifle/musket. It’s basicly the same load as the muzzleloader.

That's dang neat 58 centerfire , now I want one too !!!!. Good news is Bob Hoyt called me today and said he could make my rolling block 50/70 on the cheap as case rim dimensions for 50/70 work with 43 spanish extractor well enough. So for a literal pittance he will bore it out , rifle & chamber it to 50/70 !!!!!!. He may not get to it until the fall...worth the wait !!!!.
