Nickel '68

Perhaps forum members have already seen this '68 for sale documented to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas in 1871 . It's most unfortunate it was "deactivated" at some point in the past. Maybe a lamp at one time? 
It's not just the screw hole but the welding(?) around the hinge.
