Hey guys,

For many years I infrequently posted on AL Fraska's Trapdoor Collectors Forum bulletin board & bought a few TDs. I also bought the complete set of Al's books & a carbine from Al. Recently I posted a thread on the bulletin board and was notified by Dick Hosmer of Al's retirement and the existence of this website/forum. You're right Dick, this is a much more user friendly site.

I'm getting up in the years and sold the set of Al's books and most of the TDs, leaving me with two, a very nice 1877 carbine and a pristine 1884 rifle. I'm keeping the carbine but selling the 1884 rifle. If you're interested in obtaining an absolutely perfect example of an 1884 click on the link below. It has never been shot since leaving the factory and does no have a ding or scratch on the metal or wood. It's in what I would call 100% condition.

I seen your posting on GI. The other day.
It's definitely a beautiful TD.
I have 2 1889 manufactured TD's but neither one is as nice but they are in excellent condition. I am wondering why yours has an 1873 dated breech block?? Could be just like 2 of my M88's with low serial #'s Springfield used up what was in the back of the parts bin last.
If I didn't have 2 already I'd love to have that one!

I did not buy the rifle from Al Fraska but we exchanged several emails about it shortly after I acquired it 21yrs ago. In one of the emails from Al at the time he said, "The different date on the breechblock vs. the Cartouche is correct since it’s well known that Springfield used older parts in the later years of production."

You will definitely not find one in better condition. You could sell one of you rifles & pick this one up. ;)
