1880 dated carbine

Post by Tom Trevor »

An 1880 cartouched carbine just closed on Gun Broker for 7,575.50. Item 987907910. As nice a carbine as you will ever see but? More than I thought it would bring.

Beautiful, beautiful - but a "closet queen" for sure. Never saw a horse (or a carbine sling) let alone a hostile. That's about twice the $$$$ that I'd have guessed - is the market coming back or did a couple of people just get crazy?

Dick, Both prices for good stuff is there and two guys went nuts. We figured 35-45 and one of our guys was in for the first half of the bidding.

Very nice carbine! And not just the $7575 high bid but gunbroker has to collect sales tax too. In my state that would be over $600 additional added to the price. And if you buy from one of the auction houses (RIA, etc,) you get sales tax added to the price plus a 20% +/- buyer's premium. On some of the more expensive Trapdoor model's, the taxes and fees really hurt.

John, The LSB auctions that carbine was in have no buyers premium. But sock the seller for 20%
