"Our Assessment: This is a Super Rare Springfield Armory Model 1875 Trapdoor "Officer's Rifle" in .45/70GOV'T. This rifle is in good condition with a fair amount of finish wear through out, as shown in the pictures above. This rifle has a 33 inch barrel and a 13.25 inch length of pull. The action is clean and the bore has clear defined rifling. These Rilfes were fabricated at the Aromry at the request of individual Army Officers. In the absence of a checkerd stock, This is assumed to be the early work of armory smiths or Private purchase. no two Officers Rifles are alike, this rifle is an extremely rare and appears to be all correct with even the Long Range inlayed Adjustable rear peep sight of the era. This piece of rare history would make a prized addition to any collection and is one of a kind! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!"

Oh no! I'm disappointed.

" the seller does not sell this item to California" Well at least the residents here are protected from being ripped off.

I don't know hardly anything about these rifles, but that doesn't look anything close to what an officer's model should be.

Serial number in photos is 312238, which is in a long run of standard M1884 rifles.
But, of course, Officer Model rifles were NOT serial numbered, but why worry about small details like that.

As a cheap shooter it would be an okay gun ($500 or less).

As a really badly described or poorly faked officer model rifle it would be an embarrassment to own.

At least the seller runs these are "penny start- no reserve" and not asking silly money from suckers. But, suckers can get fleeced if they depend on the description provided.
