ID of oddball tin cartridge box for .50-70s?

Post by John S. »

Can anyone tell us anything about the two boxes sold by Cowans in 2018 from the Mark Aziz. They both have strips on the back to serve as belt loops. Both are divided into two side by side compartments with a spring loaded follower to hold 20 rounds of .50-70 per side.
The "dispensing" function is different as to how the operating plunger is operated, and the mechanics of how the end of the box opens up to feed one cartridge at a time for manual insertion into a rifle.

Anyone recall reading anything about these in trial reports, patent papers, Reports of the Chief of Ordnance, or ???
Mark Aziz had a huge collection of firearm related patent models, so I suspect these were in fact patent models, but I could not find any relevant patents. (I was hoping maybe they were related to James Paris Lee, but apparently not.) Any thoughts?
