What is the prescribed method for bringing dried trapdoor stock into a good oiled state? I imagine applying several coastings of Linseed oil WITHOUT drying agents over a period of time is appropriate but would like to know what others have found useful

Go to armscollectors.com then scroll down to Historian and collector information. Click on the Restoration tab and that will take you to some techniques on restoring stocks along with metal preservation and bore cleaning.

Before I oiled anything I’d make sure the stock doesn’t need any crack repairs. I often find cracks on the interior of the stock under the metal on old dried out stocks especially in the breach area adjacent to the lock in letting and near the tang.
