Trapdoor Rifles

I inherited a few Springfield trapdoors, I know nothing about them. They both are 1873 I take from reading one looks like 1878 but I understand it’s 1873. One is 32.5” barrel and other is about 29.5” serial numbers are: 566291 on the 29.5 and 420693 on the 32.5 there are other markings on barrels and “us” on but plate, the 29.5 has something on stock but I can’t quite make out what it is looks like a 92 at the end. I’m unable to figure out how to post pics if someone can help me I will post. Thanks much for any help with these.

The 29.5 “ rifle is a cadet model, there is no information posted in Springfield Research Service on your cadet. Hopefully you can post some photos of it.
Your rifle, serial number 420693 is a model 1884 and that serial number is listed in SRS as being issued in 1898 to Co. A 4th Kentucky Vol. Inf. Lucky you!! Go buy yourself a lottery ticket as there aren’t many rifles out there that are listed in SRS.

The 4th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry passes in review.

The 4th Kentucky only served for 7 months- mustering in during July 1898. The regiment was mustered out of service on February 12, 1899 at Anniston, Alabama. At the time of muster out, the regiment consisted of forty-six officers and 1,117 enlisted men.

During its term of service, the regiment lost thirteen men to disease, with an addition twenty-nine being discharged on disability. In addition, one man was murdered and sixty men deserted.

Not as exciting as rifle that was in combat, but far more interesting than one about which we know nothing.

This is incredible information, I thank you guy’s for helping. Is there a place I can look for approximate value of these? I’m more of a modern firearm person and would rather have these with someone who may enjoy them.
