Can anyone identify this cartridge belt? Pretty sure it is American, and probably for shotshells, and likely late trapdoor era.
Thanks!Image

Hello John
I knew I had seen a similar belt, it was in Dorsey's book, rather than typing it all out I just took a pic of the page

Hope this helps

Thimbles certainly look similar. Will they take a 20ga. brass case? Sorry, but I take a dim view of anything remotely connected to the late Silas Messer.

A metal case thimble belt is show in R L Wilsons book The Peacmakers arms and adventure in the American west Random House 1992 page 272. Holds 38 cartridges and has cast brass buckle marked JOHN P. LOWER SPORTSMENS DEPOT DENVER COLORADO.
