Jack Lewis, trapdoor guru and occasional poster here is home from the hospital.
Report from someone who has talked with him is:
"Through and Through 308 [to his leg]. - missed all vital structures and bones - fantastic news.
He's doing well, to undergo home health - wound care, dressing changes and then physical therapy. He is in remarkably good spirits, and he knows just how lucky he is/was.
This was a negligent discharge incident at the Ohio Gun Collectors Assn show in Wilmington Ohio on 15 March. Details are mostly rumor and conflicting, but Jack and another individual were hit by a negligent discharge at the show. Other victim wounds not life threatening.
Prayers up for one of our friends!

Glad to hear that news. Better would be no discharge at all. I believe the show is by invitation only unless things have changed so doubt the individual will be allowed back at all.

Glad Jack is OK...
I will NEVER forget a discharge at a local (public) show about 40 years ago. Someone was (mis)handling a 1911 .45 - he racked the slide and pulled the trigger - fortunately the pistol was pointed down into a box of books and did no harm, but the sound of several hundred people simultanously sucking wind was truly something.

Glad he is OK and wow I cannot belive someone had a loaded rifle at a gunshot. This is why don't shoot at public ranges or go to large gatherings anymore

Update March 22- Talked with Jack's son, who was there.
Jack is doing well, in good spirits with good care. He will basically have daily "wound care" for a month or so to ensure that the would heals from the inside out, avoiding infection, etc. There will be extensive physical therapy and exercise needed to restore badly damaged muscles in the thigh, But, the injuries are about the least damaging or serious as is possible with a high power rifle round at short range.
The other person injured by the bullet had a grazing wound on the buttock and the bullet then ricocheted back from the chair striking deeper into the buttock where it lodged. Not nearly as serous as Jack's wound.
Keep both in your prayers and thoughts.
Ohio police are seeking to identify several people they would like to talk to, but I have no further details.
