Army Marksman

Photograph taken by Kerr in Buchanan, Michigan. Charles Fox is the soldier in the photograph. He was born in Buchanan, Michigan, and he had grey eyes, brown hair, and was 5'5/4" in height. He joined the 4th Cavalry on 8/8/1882 and re-enlisted in the 8th Cavalry on 4/2/1888. He served tours of duty at Camp Colorado, Texas; Fort Clark, Texas; and Fort Yates, Dakota Terr. He has at least six marksmen buttons on his lapels and a Distinguished Marksman Medal on his watch chain. Look on pages 231 and 242 of Book II for a close-up of these metals. Return to Great Photos #3
