LT. J. ROCKWELL'S OFFICER'S MODEL WITH METCALFE
ATTACHMENT
The above rifle, SN52579, is thought to be the one ordered by Lt. J.
Rockwell. He requested a carbine with a Metcalfe attachment, and the gun
was to look like an Officer's Model. The gun was ordered on December 6,
1875, and delivered April 29, 1876, at a cost of $27.00. See Book II
pages
126 & 185 for lists of Sporting and Officer's Models ordered by officers.
