1877

Post by Chris »

What would be the value of a actual 1877 carbine built in 1877? I know the first year they used the narrow inlet stocks and later in 1878 changed to wider one. this one still has the original stock would this make it more valuable than the later model 77 carbines? the fact that not many stocks made with the compartment in butt-stock and narrow cut for breech exist makes it that much more scarce.

Does it also have the M1877 rear sight with untouched slotless screws?

It does not, it was upgraded with the m84 carbine rear sight with the sight protector barrel band, i believe its possibly official change since these were not recalled to be taken apart and scrapped like the early 73s so i assume that the change over is would be correct. the patina matches on both barrel and sight as with the rest of the parts. I really dont see any model 1877 carbines made in that year at all anywhere I search especially one with the original narrow inlet stock. i have seen plenty of early numbered first model carbines in so called replacement stock with the compartment in back but we all know that early replacement stocks did not have one. And i bet all i seen was cut for the wider breech.
