Trapdoor Carbine front sight help Please...

Post by bdome »

Good morning guys

I have an 1873 Trapdoor Carbine with a Buffington rear sight assembly that needs a new front sight blade. I plan to use a piece of brass but I wonder if those of you with a similar configuration might measure the height of your front sight blade please. I'd also appreciate knowing whether these blades are squared off, ramped towards the muzzle or wedge shaped. Any input would be appreciated!

bdome, The original blade for the Buffington carbine is .362 from top of barrel. it tapers to the muzzle while rear edge is rounded off. The carbine will with original blade shoot high at 100 yards if you wish to zero at 100 yards make your blade taller and using your load file blade to what you need.Hope this helps.
