As one would expect from Bruce, a very nicely done article which covered a lot in a small space. I also followed a couple of the other links (in red, at the end). The Ward-Burton article shows an odd piece which I guess must be the aborted repeating version? Certainly isn't the standard rifle I was expecting.

Dick- Other than being a carbine rather than the usual rifle version, it looks standard to me. Perhaps the line drawing of the action looks like it might be wishing for a magazine of some sort, but I am pretty sure it matches the rest.

The carbine shown IS standard, I was referring to the three-band rifle with the slightly 'off" looking action at the lead banner.

The three band version is one made prior to those made by Springfield for troop trials.

Probably one made by Burton, before Ward became a partner. Article about it in the Remington Society of America Journal by Craig Reisch. Apparenlty he also had samples tested by the Brits, and one or more U.S. trials.
