Avatars and more . . .
Something to work on as time goes on - the avatar size is completely unrealistic. Take a look at the KCA site which uses a very similar software shell. And please, to avoid snickering from the troops, and our guests, it is Kb, or kb, NOT Kib or KIb, etc.

Re: Avatars and more . . .
Precisely - I'll have to recheck mine (which works fine on Jouster and KCA).

OK, Don - how did you do it? At 6Kb and 72dpi (which is NOT a fancy hi-res thing!), all I have is a microdot, but on Jouster, our avatars look, at least roughly, the same size. Thanks!

Hello
I will try to write up a little tutorial
You can go to https://www2.lunapic.com/editor/ go to 'file" and then "image size info" and then upload your image and then go to "file size" and make it 4 or 5 to get below the 6 kb and then check the "image size", which is just below "you may undo this edit.." if over 90 on any side go to "resize dimensions" and change the largest size to 90 and then "apply scaling" and save.
Note this seems to work best with a more square image for the avatar. I used my avatar picture which was already reduced but would not work on this site. be sure to make a copy of the picture you are going to use as it may change your original.
You can also use this to size down to under 250 kb for your regular picture posts
It may take a few tries to get it right
This is what I used and it worked pretty well

Re: Avatars and more . . .
Didn't like having to sign up for the site noted.
Went to KCA forum (SAME software) and they handle avatars just a tiny bit differently - with more options. In fact, it APPEARED that avatars could simply be transferred within phpBB.
The KCA version has a way to export the avatar url, but we seem to have no way to import it here. I'm sure this is a VERY minor tweak that can be fixed when the dust settles. FWIW, their size restrictions are identical to ours.
Also checked Jouster/Culver - which uses different software but where I use my same avatar. Their requirements are more generous 120px x 120px and 87.9 Kb. I THINK I first used an avatar there and then used same image for KCA, without issue.

Avatars- I don't know nothin' about birthin' no babies, or about avatars either.
Maybe I can get someone to educate me, or fiddle with that, but we are still working on getting the old site domain name shifted over so we can get the internet magic to point to the new location. My tech guy is generous about his time and talent, but I want to keep the priority on the important stuff. Avatars are no important right now.

I COMPLETELY understand - just planting the thought for the future!
Re: Avatars and more . . .
I think I finally got my avatar to work. Testing here
