Springfield Armory Cleaning Rods

Post by Fred Gaarde »

These three steel cleaning rods were bought on the docks of New York City back in the 1940’s or 1950’s where the Government was also selling unopened crates of trapdoor Springfields and other old surplus to the public.
Barney Joe Davies, from whom I bought them in 1975, told me that the rods are meant for .45
.30 and .22 caliber bores and were used by the SA workers in the shops.
Barney said that he bought this full set of the rods for 10 Cents.
They’re about 48” long.
